DHS Teacher of the Year

2019-2020 Derby High School Teacher of the Year!!!

Eric O'Toole ToY

Congratulations, Mr. Eric O'Toole!!!

Eric O’Toole began preparing for his teaching career when he attended Easter Connecticut State University.  During his four years there, he played baseball for the school.  Go Warriors!  Later he returned back to school, this time at Central Connecticut State University, to pursue and achieve his graduate degree in Educational Leadership.

In 2009 Eric was interviewed for a teaching position by his former high school Student Council Advisor.  Mr. Fran Thompson, principal at the time at Derby High School, hired Eric and his career at DHS began!

During his time here at Derby High, Eric has been a part of many activities.  Besides teaching Physical Education and Health to our students, he has also coached the baseball team and is presently the head basketball coach of our boy’s team.  He is also heavily involved with clubs at our school and counts himself as an advisor to the Sophomore Class, Wellness Club, Student Council, and Class Act Council.

In his free time, Eric is a family man.  When he isn’t making new TikTok videos, you can find him either playing with his two daughters, Emerson and Finley, or watching romantic comedies with his wife.
