Dear Derby High School Families,

We are proud to present the 2022-2023 Program of Studies for Derby High School. This booklet has been prepared to help students choose a course of study for their high school years. Planning is an important part of a successful high school experience.  This includes choosing courses based on personal goals, skills, and interests to prepare for college, career, and beyond. Derby High School provides a quality core curriculum in mathematics, English, social studies, and science. In addition, a wide range of courses are available in art, music, world language and career and technical education. The 2022-2023 Program of Studies has several notable updates.  New courses have been added in multiple departments, including expanded AP and dual-credit offerings. This year, students are now also able to earn physical education credit by competing in a varsity sport. 

The course selection process was updated for the 2022-2023 school year.  Students selected their courses online using PowerSchool instead of completing a paper course selection form.  By moving the process online, students and their families are able to be more actively involved in selecting their courses and desired path of study.  School counselors are available throughout the course selection process to help students and families as they navigate the online portal.
